2. Enjoy Live Music at Calgary’s Halloween Howler

Head to Grey Eagle Resort & Casino for 2024’s Calgary’s Halloween Howler

This year’s bands include The Stone Temple Pilots & The Blue Stones. The show takes place on October 26th, so purchase tickets in advance so you don’t miss out.

3. Take a Ghost Tour

Visit Calgary’s most haunted locations with an experienced guide on a Calgary Ghost Tour. 

Depending on which night you book, you can visit the most haunted places in Inglewood, where you will learn about a local curse and mischievous ghosts that cause havoc in nearby businesses.

Another ghost tour takes you Downtown, where you will hear the spooky tales at Firehouse 1. Or visit Kensington, where you will learn the history of the many spirits that haunt the street.

4. Halloween in Calgary at Calgary Zoo

Do you want to spend Halloween in Calgary exploring the zoo? This October, there are two seriously spooky and mysterious events.

On October 18th, head to the zoo for an adult-only Halloween event called ZooDunnit. The evening features a spooky murder mystery dinner with drinks, food, and mystery! It’s loads of fun and one of the best things to do for Halloween with your friends.

Later in the month, the zoo will host one of the best Halloween events in Calgary—the ZooBoo! This family-friendly event allows you to dress up in your favourite Halloween costume and receive tasty sweet treats while wandering around the zoo.

5. Spend Halloween at Lougheed House

Lougheed House has several events that will make your Halloween extra spooky. Throughout the month, Lougheed House offers several guided tours that include a Halloween Twist. 

Later in the month, on October 26th, Lougheed House hosts a Halloween Tea, which features tea leaf readers to tell your fortune. October 26th also features a Halloween Murder Mystery Dinner for people who love a good mystery with a side of delicious food.

6. Killer Psyche at Telus Spark Science Centre

Fear is back at Telus Spark for Halloween in Calgary in 2024. This adult-only event takes place on October 11th from 6:00 p.m. to Midnight. 

The night’s theme is Killer Psyche, and it is full of all things related to criminology, including the science behind crime and why people commit crimes. The evening includes delicious snacks like astronaut ice cream and your favourite cocktails.

If you want something unique to do for Halloween in Calgary, you must check out the Black Lagoon Popup! This Halloween cocktail pop-up will take place at the Blind Tiger Lounge between October 10th and the 31st.

9. Go Ghost Hunting with Ghost Gurus

Explore Calgary’s haunted Mystic Manor with Ghost Guros this Halloween. You will be guided through the manor, exploring every haunted corner with psychic and ghost hunting equipment.

Not only do they specialize in telling the spookiest ghost stories, but they also have ghost hunting and sessions with a psychic! So, prepare to spend Halloween in Calgary trying to hunt the paranormal with top-of-the-line ghost hunting equipment.

10. Walk Through the Field of Screams at Cobb’s Adventure Park

Head to Cobb’s Adventure Park for their annual and horrifying Field of Screams Halloween event in Calgary. This outdoor event takes place over 20 acres, where you will walk through the scariest haunted houses.

The 2024 haunted houses are some of the most terrifying places you will ever experience. Some houses include visiting your own funeral at Buried Alive, visiting a haunted mansion, visiting a mad house, and so much more.

This year’s events take place on October 11th, 12th, 17th, 18th, 25th, and 26th. If you prefer to enjoy the event without children, the 17th is an adults-only evening.

11. Scream at Calgary’s Screamfest

If you want spooky & fun things to do in Calgary for adults, I recommend checking out Calgary’s Screamfest. The Halloween event takes place throughout October at Stampede Park.

2024 brings seven terrifying haunted houses, so spend your night wandering through some of the scariest haunted houses, like the Clowntown, Bates Motel, and Reapers & Grimm.

Other attractions include Nightmare Links Mini Golf, Spooky carnival rides at the Thrills & Rides, and haunted games at the Midway of Mayhem.

12. Spend the night with Haunted Calgary

If you love haunted houses, you must spend Halloween with Haunted Calgary. 

Haunted Calgary wasted no time setting up the Slasher Showdown – The Friday the 13th Massacre.

For Halloween events, they have activities like Hell Night, a zombie survival game. The haunt’s Halloween edition runs from October 19th to November 2nd, 2024.

Also, they do prop rentals if you want one hell of a Halloween party.

13. Walk the YYC – Haunted Cowtown

If you want free things to do for Halloween in Calgary, I highly recommend taking Walk the YYC’s Haunted Cowtown Tour. The tour is spooky, fun, and the perfect way to spend the spooky season in Calgary. Plus, it’s free, making it one of the best free things to do in Calgary!

Other tours include visiting places like Queens Park Cemetery for a cemetery walk, where you will learn the spooky and dark history of one of Calgary’s cemeteries. If you love dark history and ghost hunting, I cannot recommend the Haunted Cowtown and other Walk the YYC tours.

14. Watch the Pumpkin Drop

Do you want to watch a giant pumpkin drop from the sky and smash into a million pieces onto the ground? Well, on October 30th, you can witness the pumpkin drop at Alice Sanctuary. This is a ticketed event, so book tickets as soon as possible!

15. Halloween Movie Marathons!

If you love Halloween, you surely love Halloween movies. Visit movie theatres like the Globe Cinema and the Plaza Theatre and spend the evening watching your favourite classic Halloween and horror films.

The 12-Hour Halloween Movie Marathon is happening on October 26th at the Globe Cinema. All night long, they will host seven under-the-radar and classic horror movies.

16. Calgary’s Ultimate Halloween Party with Menagerie Halloween

Head down to the West Gate Social Wyckham House for the 2nd annual adults-only ultimate Halloween party. 

The Halloween Party takes place on October 27th and includes a live DJ, old-school Halloween party games, a costume contest, cocktails, trick-or-treat stations, a fortune teller, and more.

The party also includes black cat adoption care at the AARCS Safe Haven.

17. Ride the Train of Terror (18+)

If you are looking for adult activities for Halloween in Calgary this year, I recommend the Train of Terror. This terrifying experience includes two hours of maze haunts, a train ride, and delicious food and drinks.

What makes the Train of Terror so scary is that the performers will touch, grab, and follow you, so be prepared for an extra spooky evening this Halloween!

Not only will you experience the moving train haunt, but you will also explore a haunted maze! The Train of Terror begins on October 3, 2024.

18. Dr Giggles House of Pain

If you want to experience a terrifying haunted house just 30 minutes outside of Calgary, head to Dr. Giggles House of Pain in Chestermere this Halloween. The Halloween event includes a Costume Bash and an evening in a spooky haunted house.

Family-Friendly Things to Do for Halloween in Calgary 

19. Harvest Pumpkin Fest

If you are looking for family-friendly events for Halloween in Calgary this year, you must spend a day at the Butterfield Acres farm.

Not only do you get to find the perfect pumpkin to take home to carve, but you also get to see animals. There are so many autumn activities, including pony rides for the kids, drinking apple cider and taking a wagon ride on a tractor!

The festival runs every weekend throughout October in this 2024 Halloween season.

20. Spend Halloween at Calaway Park

Head down to Calaway Park on weekends for their Halloweekend Halloween events. 

The family-friendly event includes Halloween-related activities like strolling through Hallotown and enjoying the Halloweekends Parade. It’s loads of fun and the perfect way to spend Halloween in Calgary for the entire family.

Walk through a display of over 10,000 pumpkins at Calgary’s Pumpkins After Dark. The pumpkin-lined pathway is enchanting and the perfect way to spend Halloween in Calgary.

You will also get to enjoy the celebration of all things Halloween, live pumpkin carving, sweet treats and the perfect photo opportunities.

The event for 2024 takes place at Winsport from September 20th to October 31, 2024.

22. Spend Halloween on 17th Avenue

Every year, the businesses on 17th Avenue join together, giving you a Halloween you won’t forget. 

Head to Tomkins Park on the 25th and 26th of October to enjoy the spooky season in Calgary, including classic Halloween movies like The Haunted Mansion, The Shining, Hocus Pocus, Sleepy Hollow and more.

Other Halloween activities the whole family can enjoy include a trip to the Sugar Cube Candy Truck, a stop at the Photo Booth, trick-or-treating, and many other fun activities.

It’s tonnes of fun and the perfect place to take your kids trick or treating.

23. Ghouls Night Out at Heritage Park

Spend Halloween at Heritage Parks Ghouls Night Out. Some spooky activities include meeting a scarecrow in the pumpkin patch, Halloween crafts, and flying lessons at the Sanderson Sisters’ Flying Academy.

They also have several shows at the Street Theatre, including Still Ghoul Hunting, The Pirates Retirement Home, and the Further Adventures of Dr. Franklin and the Monster.

This family-friendly Halloween event is on October 24th, so buy tickets before they sell out!

24. Harvest Lights at Calgary Farmyard 

Wander through a spooky corn maze under the cover of darkness with the light of your flashlight leading the way at Harvest Lights. 

Take the entire family down to the farm to enjoy the farm lit up for Halloween with loads of activities, including the petting farm, pig races, rat rollers, and so much more.

25. Go Halloween Shopping & Costume Shopping

Head to shops like Winners and Michaels and browse their high-quality Halloween items, including skeleton dishes, pumpkin pillows, and ghost blankets.

You should also hit up the classic Halloween stores like Halloween Alley and Spirit Halloween to check out the hilarious animatronic decorations and try on a few spooky Halloween costumes.
